Agents of the Federal Police seized 495 kilograms (1,091 pounds) of marijuana in the northern state of Sonora, the National Security (CNS) reported.
The incident took place on the Sonoyta-Puerto Peñasco highway, where federal police found 50 packages wrapped in packing tape in a vacant lot.
The packages containing the drug were apparently abandoned.
The packages were made available to the Public Prosecutor to follow up investigations.
