Belgium pays homage to Diego Rivera

Six murals of the Mexican artist are being exhibited in Brussels, Antwerp and Mechelen.

Mestizo Art Festival, a Belgian cultural event that brings together urban and multidisciplinary artists, pays homage to Mexican muralist Diego Rivera this year with six murals exhibited in Brussels, Antwerp and Mechelen, the Embassy of Mexico informed.

A copy of the mural “El desnudo a través de los siglos” (Nudity through centuries) is displayed at the Royal Flemish Theatre in Brussels.

Antwerp's KOP center exhibits a tribute to the mural “El pueblo en demanda de la salud – La historia de la medicina en México”. (The people demands health – the history of medicine in Mexico) painted by Rivera at La Raza hospital in Mexico City.

Arenberg center, also in Antwerp, exhibits a version of the mural “México a través de los siglos” (Mexico throughout the centuries). The original is displayed at the Fine Arts Palace in Mexico City.

De Studio displays an interpretation of “Día de muertos: Fiesta en la calle” (Day of the Dead: street party), while a mural inspired in “Sueño de una tarde dominicial en la alameda central” (Dream of a Sunday afternoon at the Alameda) can be visited at Studio Urbanization in Antwerp.

Finally, an interpretation of “Las manos de la naturaleza ofreciendo agua” (The hands of nature offering water) is exhibited at Mechelen.

Also, an altar to celebrate the Day of the Dead was displayed at the Museum aan de Stroom in Antwerpen.
