The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) has activated the phase of Environmental Pre-contingency for the central Valley of Mexico due to high concentrations of ozone.

According to the Atmospheric Monitoring System (Simat) the Metropolitan Air Quality index (IMECA) reached 170 points in the monitoring station located in the School of Graduate Studies in Acatlán, in the State of Mexico.

These high concentrations of ozone mean a bad quality of air in the area, which encompasses Mexico City and the State of Mexico, and it is strongly recommended that people avoid outdoor activities, particularly older adults, children and persons with breathing problems.
