Jaime Rodríguez was sworn in yesterday as the first independent governor in Mexico.
“El Bronco”, as the new governor of Nuevo León is better known, ordered audits and announced that his government will not pay the debts of the previous administration until it is proven that they are lawful.
Rodríguez explained that the previous administration of Rodrigo Medina left a debt of almost 90 billion pesos (US$5.37 billion).
He also called on his officials to submit their financial, assets and conflict of interest statements this month and announced that all the agencies will be audited and if anyone committed a crime, he/she will be brought to justice.
Rlodríguez added that no one in his government will be a member of a political party.
