Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto said that the lack of reports of victims after the passage of hurricane Patricia is very much due to the faith and confidence of Mexicans in themselves.

He noted that the damages were not of the expected magnitude and there are some reasons for that, like the geology of the country and the height and speed of the hurricane.

"It will correspond to scientists and experts the explanation of what, fortunately, helped avoid that it had a devastating effect. But what I am certain is that the imminent onslaught by this hurricane called for the unity of all Mexicans.

"I believe that in a good measure, having no deaths due to the impact of this hurricane owes much to the faith of the people of Mexico, the faith in themselves," expressed Peña Nieto.

During his participation in the "Mexico Business Summit," chaired by Miguel Alemán, the President expressed his gratitude to business leaders and entrepreneurs and his most "heartfelt" praise for the people of Mexico.
