Tunnel with 10 tons of marijuana found in Tijuana

16 people who claim to work for an organization in Jalisco were arrested in connection with the case.

Federal police, in coordination with the Center for Investigation and National Security (CISEN), found a tunnel in Tijuana, Baja California, used to smuggle drugs into the United States.

A total of16 people (15 from Sinaloa and one of Tijuana) who claimed to work for an organization in Jalisco were arrested in connection with the case.

About 10 tons of marijuana were found in the 800-meter (2,624 feet) long tunnel, that authorities said was bound for San Diego, California.

The entrance to the tunnel, found inside a warehouse on Fray Junípero Serra street, was discovered due to the arrival of several trucks and pick-ups apparently carrying the drug, that was wrapped in 873 packages.
