After three corpses were found in Iztapalapa this week, Mexico City mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera announced that 700 security cameras more will be installed in the district, for a total of 2,300.
The new cameras will be installed in Popular, Ermita Zaragoza, Lomas de Zaragoza and Santa Martha Acatitla neighborhoods.
The decision was made in a meeting with Government Secretary Patricia Mercado, Public Security Secretary Hiram Almeida, Mexico City attorney general Rodolfo Ríos and the head of Mexico City police department Raúl Peralta.
Mancera explained that the video footage of the existing cameras is being reviewed to find the slayers and added that there will be no impunity in the cases.
