A corpse was found on the corner of Chilpancingo Sur and José Pagola streets in Iztapalapa, Mexico City.

The man, around 45 years old, was shot in the head. A message written on a cardboard was found next to his body, though its content was not revealed.

This is the third corpse found in Iztapalapa district in the last three days.

Yesterday a body with signs of torture was found burning inside a metal barrel at Central de Abastos neighborhood. According to the Office of the Attorney General of Mexico City, the victim was handcuffed and was killed by strangulation.

On Monday the hanging body of a young man was found at the bridge of La Concordia. He had two gunshot wounds on the head.

Yesterday Hiram Almeida Estrada, Head of Mexico City Public Security Department, said that organized crime does not operate in Mexico City.

"We do not believe in the presence of drug cartels in Mexico City," he said.

On Monday Isabel Miranda de Wallace, chairwoman of the NGO Alto al Secuestro, said that "businessmen have had to close their shops and even leave Mexico City because Los Zetas extort them."
