The men who were killed in the municipality of Ajalpan, Puebla, for presumably being kidnappers and rapists, were identified as students working for a polling company from Mexico City.

Local media in Puebla presented the student i.d.'s of the young men, siblings and alumni from the University of Tulancingo, working for the Marketing Estratégico company of Mexico City.

The mayor of Ajalpan, Gustavo Lara Torres, identified them as José Abraham and Rey David Copado Molina, of 25 and 35 years of age.

He added that they had been initially arrested due to complaints about their suspicious activities, when in fact they were conducting a poll on tortilla production.

In addition, a young girl supposedly reported that they tried to take her by force, and they were restrained and taken to the premises of the municipal government.

The young girl was also taken there in order to identify her presumed assailants, but she said that they were innocent. In spite of this fact, a mob entered the building and took them outside, killing them and then setting them on fire.
