Alberto de la Cruz, lawyer of 11 federal policemen who were at the monitoring center of El Altiplano prison when Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán" escaped on July 11, said that they did not have audio and therefore could have not heard the hammering and drilling at the drug lord's cell.
He added that the only ones that have access to monitors with audio are the general director of El Altiplano and the National Center of Investigation and Security (CISEN).
“I do not understand why the Attorney General's Office (PGR) keeps releasing videos,” said de la Cruz about the video with audio presented yesterday by news anchor Carlos Loret de Mola.
In the video, Guzmán can be seen lying on his bed under a blanket watching television when the hammering begins. A split screen with the prison control room shows no one reacting.
Even when Guzmán disappears into the tunnel in the floor of his cell's shower, there is no visible reaction in the control room. Twenty-five minutes pass before two officers gather in front of screens and talk.
Almost 30 minutes pass before guards appear outside the cell.
