The National Electoral Institute (INE) announced that the Labor Party (PT) and the Humanist Party (PH) lost their registration because they did not obtain at least 3% of the votes on June 7 elections.

The INE explained that no new parties will be registered in the next six years, as established in the electoral reform of 2007, that suppressed the possibility of registering a political party every year.

Lorenzo Córdova, president of the INE, said that the budget of 4.03 billion pesos (US$239.87 million) for political parties will remain the same and that it will now be distributed among eight parties: Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), National Action Party (PAN), Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), Green Party (PVEM), Citizens Movement (Movimiento Ciudadano), New Alliance (Nueva Alianza), National Regeneration Movement (Morena) and Social Encounter (Encuentro Social).
