Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto announced that his administration will adopt three measures to promote women's equality at the inauguration of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment: A Commitment to Action”.
President Peña Nieto said that Mexico will elevate to ministerial level the coordination of the works of the National Equality System Between Men and Women, will promote a greater co-responsibility between men and women to improve the workload distribution at home and will intensify the actions to prevent teen pregnancies.
Within the framework of the 70th. General Assembly of the United Nations, President Peña Nieto said that empowering women at global level enriches and solidifies the actions in favor of the great causes of humanity.
He explained that gender perspective is included in Mexico's National Development Plan and added that after the approval of a political reform compelling all political parties to have 50% of female candidates, 42% of the Chamber of Deputies is now made up of women.
