An alleged former leader of Los Zetas in Nuevo León, captured by the Navy on February 26, was stabbed to death in the Topo Chico Prison during a clash that also left eleven inmates injured.
The State Ministry of Public Security confirmed the death of Mario Alberto Roldán "El Fresa", 32, who served as alleged gang leader of Los Zetas in the state of Nuevo León.
Roldán, from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, was arrested and awaiting trial for kidnapping.
The clash between inmates was reported around 9:00 pm on Friday and controlled by the prison officers hours later.
