During the opening ceremony of the 72nd edition of the Venice Film Festival, Alfonso Cuarón, head of the international jury, made reference to the current migration crisis in Europe.

The Mexican filmmaker asked Europe to extend a welcome to all migrants.

"I feel very fortunate, I'm a Mexican living in Europe and I've always felt welcome. I would like that today and in the future the same welcome would be extended to all migrants" he said.
