The Mexican authorities increased during the last few minutes of last Thursday the travel alert levels for Egypt, recommending either postponing or reconsidering travel to the African nation due "to its political and social instability, as well as the threat of terrorist attacks or the action of the Armed forces that confront it".
In the Traveler's Guide page of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), the alert also indicates that an investigation has been launched on the attack that caused death and injuries to Mexican tourists in a military attack last Sunday. It is noted that once the results of the investigation conducted by the Egyptian authorities are known, there will be more items specified in the travel warning.
The warning was first issued last Tuesday, pointing out that "Egypt is passing through a complex process of political and social change and faces, in addition, a series of challenges before achieving full internal and regional stability".
