Desde Allá (From Afar), directed by Venezuelan filmmaker Lorenzo Vigas and co-produced by Guillermo Arriaga and Michel Franco from Mexico, won the Golden Lion at the Venice film festival.
The first ever Venezuelan film to be selected for competition at the festival is about a 50 year old man who pays young men for company but no physical intimacy.
This is the debut movie of Vigas, who did not study film. It will be presented next week at Toronto Film Festival.
