A family survived a crash with a freighter train after the driver of their vehicle tried to beat the train at a railway crossing.

Early reports indicate that at approximately 5:00 p.m. Sunday, Roberto Zuñiga Hernández was driving with his family when he attempted to beat the train with his Dodge pickup, but he failed and the vehicle was struck by the convoy in the area of Eje Vial and General Luis Caballero.

Zuñiga Hernández was taken to a local hospital with a broken arm, and his wife and children received treatment for a strong nervous breakdown.
