Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto deplored the killing of Mexican tourists in Egypt after the security forces shot against them because they thought they were terrorists.
"In a tragic incident in Egypt, Mexican tourists were attacked. I deeply regret that our compatriots have lost their lives," he said via Twitter.
The President instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to increase its diplomatic staff in Egypt in order to assist the victims and their families. He said that Mexico "condemns these acts against our citizens" and demanded that the Government of Egypt conducts a thorough investigation on the incident.
