Cardinal asks for prayers for killed journalists

During Sunday mass the Catholic authorities asked parishioners to pray for journalists killed in the exercise of their informative labor.

While officiating mass in the Metropolitan Cathedral, Cardinal Norberto Rivera, not mentioning the name of recently killed photojournalist Rubén Espinosa, asked for prayers for those professionals who lost their lives in "the search for truth."

"For the journalists, reporters, cameramen, photographers and all those who have lost their lives in the exercise of the informative work, while in the pursuit of truth for which Christ, the communicator par excellence, will receive them in his kingdom and enjoy eternal peace," expressed Rivera.

Espinosa was murdered last Friday along four women in an apartment in the Narvarte area of Mexico City.
