Employees of recycling companies closed the Acapulco-Mexico City highway opposite to the World Trade Center (WTC) in the municipality of Xochitepec, where lawmakers will consider the creation of a parastatal company to control the process of solid waste in the state of Morelos.
The workers from recycling companies working on metal and polyethylene terephtalate closed the road at the entrances to the city and the local Congress to prevent the beginning of the meeting.
They consider that the creation of the company, with the participation of the government and the Cooperativa Cruz Azul company, will affect their source of income.
Local lawmakers are meeting at the WTC to study on a bill giving the municipal governments the authority to negotiate the contract with Cruz Azul for the construction, equipment, operation and administration of the plants of treatment to be created in various regions of the state.
