A judge in Mexico City sentenced a taxi driver to 18 years in prison for the rape and robbery of a woman in February.
The Attorney General of Mexico City (PGJDF) said in a statement that in addition to facing imprisonment, Abraham Emanuel Morales Paquini must also pay 9,900 pesos (609 dollars) to the victim and a fine of 5,735 pesos (353 dollars).
During the trial, the public prosecutor established that on February 5, 2015 at approximately 19:00 hours, the victim boarded the taxi in Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood, in Miguel Hidalgo District.
On the way, the driver parked the vehicle on a dark street, pulled a gun, raped and robbed the victim.
