The National Weather Service (SMN) reported that the Tropical Depression Five-E was formed on Saturday morning and is currently located about 426 kilometers (265 miles) south-southeast of Acapulco, Mexico.
The Tropical Depression Five-E is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Dolores possibly as soon as later Saturday and may strengthen into a hurricane next week.
In a statement, the SMN said that this depression is the fifth tropical cyclone of the 2015 season, which will cause heavy rains, thunderstorms, hail and strong winds in Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas.
Similarly, it will cause heavy rainfall in Michoacán.
Winds are expected to reach over 50 km/h (31 mph), which can generate high waves along the coasts of Guerrero and Oaxaca.
The SMN urged people stay informed on weather conditions through its Twitter account @conagua_clima and websites smn.conagua.gob.mx and www.conagua.gob.mx.
