A district judge in the state of Aguascalientes decided to grant bail to the former governor of Aguascalientes, Luis Armando Reynoso Femat.
The Federal Judicial Council expressed in a press release that the accusations of federal fraud against him are not serious by the federal law system.
The federal authorities had requested the denial of the bail, under the argument that he is facing other similar accusations, with convictions in some cases.
The former governor is accused of fiscal fraud, for not reporting US$1.84 million in earnings during 2009, and not paying more than US$495,000 in taxes.
Reynoso Femat is also facing charges for ordinary crimes, embezzlement and improper performance of duties against the state. He was arrested for those charges on May 2 and paid a series of fines.
The former governor was arrested on Thursday night by officers from the Office of the Attorney General (PGR) in León, Guanajuato for the charges of fiscal fraud.
