The Country Club of Mexico City was awarded the chance to become the headquarters for the Bridgestone Golf America's Cup, a PGA Tour Latin America contest, having the highlight of presenting legendary golfer Tiger Woods.
The tournament, to be held from October 22 to 25, is expected to attract a big number of amateurs, according to its general director, Diego Díaz.
"We are very happy with this decision. We believe that it is the ideal course to receive an event as important as this, which requires a high-level of organization and is ready to host a large audience," expressed Díaz.
Also, Woods, former world number one, is not the only attraction, as compatriot Matt Kuchar confirmed his attendance.
"The last time Tiger Woods participated in an official event in Latin America was in 2000, when he played alongside David Duval in the Golf World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina. On that occasion, the U.S. players left with the title after beating local Angel Cabrera and Eduardo Romero.
"Also, Kuchar represented his country in the World Cup of 2011 in China with Gary Woodland and kept the title," recalled the organizers in a statement.
