Real state tycoon Donald Trump expressed his reaction to the decision of NBC Universal to break their relations due to his comments about immigrants, and reiterated that he has no plans to alter its position in regard to "illegal immigration".
During his participation in a forum at the City Club of Chicago, Trump said that he told the network sometime ago that he would not continue with "The Apprentice" TV show because he wanted to seek the U.S. presidency.
“Long ago I told NBC that I would not being doing The Apprentice because I am running for President in order to make our country great again,” expressed Trump.
He also published his position on Instagram, expressing that he will remain on the same grounds regarding immigrants.
“We must have strong borders and not let illegal immigrants enter the United States. As has been stated continuously in the press, people are pouring across our borders unabated. Public reports routinely state great amounts of crime are being committed by illegal immigrants. This must be stopped and it must be stopped now.”
He added that “if NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court.”
NBC Universal announced on Monday the end of its relations with Trump, due to his derogatory remarks, ending the transmissions of the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants.
"At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values," the statement reads. "Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBC Universal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump," expressed the TV network.
NBC is the second network to break ties with Trump, after Univision, the main Spanish broadcaster in the U.S. became the first to put an end to the transmission of the Miss USA contest.
