Tropical storm Blanca became a category one hurricane, with sustained winds of 74 miles per hour and gusts of 93 mph, as reported by the National Coordinator of Civil Protection, Luis Felipe Puente.

Through his Twitter account, Puente said that the phenomenon remains stationary 376 miles south-southwest of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, and 406 miles south of Manzanillo, Colima.

Puente asked people to remain alert to the indications and recommendations of the Civil Protection authorities.
