Tarahumara Silvino Cubésare won first place in the senior category and second overall in theUltra marathon in Spain, after running 154 kilometers in the mountains of Alcaraz and Segura, in Albacete, from May 30 to June 1.
This ultra marathon, which Tarahumara Arnulfo Químare also participated, was held for three days, running about 50 kilometers per day.
Cubésare had a time of 16 hours 42 minutes and 11 seconds, followed by Portuguese Pedro Marquez, who clocked 16 hours 42 minutes and eight seconds.
The Rarámuri or Tarahumara are a Native American people of northwestern Mexico who are renowned for their long-distance running ability, among other things.
