Jaime Almeida dies at age 66

The music journalist, producer, and radio and television host, died from a heart attack on Friday night in Paraiso, Tabasco.

Music journalist, producer, and radio and television host, Jaime Almeida, died at age 66 on Friday night in Paraiso, Tabasco. Almeida suffered a heart attack.

He received the National Journalism Award in 1980, also participated as a reporter and producer of several radio and television shows in Televisa, Grupo Radio Formula and Milenio, among others.

Jaime Almeida was born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, and arrived in Mexico City in 1968 to study at the Universidad Iberoamericana.

A year later, he worked with Jacobo Zabludovsky in the news program "24 horas", where he remained until 1976.

He also was the producer of the Rock Festival Avándaro in 1971.

Between 1980 and 1989 he was director of Televisa Radio, which had stations like XEW, XEQ and XEX. At the same time, between 1983 and 1988, he was director of Televisa Discos. And from 1990-1996, he was director of Televisa Music Video Library.
 
From 2000 to 2010 he was part of Grupo Radio Centro leading various radio programs.
