Hurricane Andrés, located at about 700 miles south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, strengthened to a Category 2 hurricane on Saturday morning with sustained wind speeds of 168 km/h (105 mph).
The National Water Commission (Conagua) said the weather phenomenon is moving northwest at a speed of 10 km/h (6.2 mph) with gusts of 205 km/h (127 mph).
Conagua also said that the storm could cause damages in Colima, Michoacán and Guerrero in the next hours.
There will be some high surf, swells may eventually propagate toward the Baja peninsula, including Cabo San Lucas, this weekend into early next week.
