Out of the 42 people killed by the federal forces in Rancho del Sol last Friday, 36 bodies have been returned to their next of kin by the Forensic Medical Service in Morelia.
The delivery of the bodies began the day after the supposed confrontation between the authorities and the alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
According to the authorities, members of the federal police were attacked between the municipalities of Ecuandureo and Tanhuato, Michoacán, by armed men on board a van, and the authorities chased them to Rancho del Sol.
There, the 41 policemen confronted the armed civilians and requested land and air support.
In the end, 100 federal officers clashed with the alleged criminals, ending with 42 civilians killed, as well as one federal police officer.
The National Security Commissioner, Monte Alejandro Rubido, reported that out of the 27 bodies delivered to their relatives, 18 were from Jalisco, three from Michoacán, two from Mexico City, one from Aguascalientes, another one from Coahuila, one from Sonora and the last one from Tabasco.
